I love the colour green.I try to be green. No I'm not suffering from pangs of monstrous jealousy, neither has the bumpy,pot-holed bus ride to college made me sick. Not yet.But it's what the colour represents, the outdoors, trees, our environment and us in healthy symbiosis that I love.
My batch is the second batch . to have an additional subject E.V.S in our Engg.syllabus.
AND I HATE IT.
No I wasn't lying in lines 1,2,3,4.But why I loathe it so much requires some explanation.
1)Water pollution
2)Green house effect
3)Global warming
The crux of our EVS syllabus.
The 3rd std,4th std,5th std,6th std, 7th std,8th std,9th std,10th std,11th std,12th std..T.E....Been there done that .First I thought there possibly couldn't be any thing left to know more about in these three corner-stones of our syllabus but finally after studying the same thing for the 11th (!) time I found out a new thing.I found out why the majority of people everywhere are apathetic towards the environment. It is because our environment along with ourselves has turned out be nothing more than a bookish theory. We stretch our hand only far enough to earn marks/points/grades/money ,the whole world be choking dead or not.
1)So you ask me about the Green house effect ,I'll study and write only about the green house effect.10 marks more than you loser!
2)So I plant trees,have a farm on FB farmville.
YAY!I have more points than you.
3)Yes ma'am ,plastic must be banned.
'A' grade \m/
4)This is why carbon credit exists in the first place.
And while even the tiniest fondness for green is crushed and stifled in our stagnant
classrooms,we continue to "learn" why plants are helpful to us and how the definition of food-chain has evolved to mean the line along which the box of banana chips is passed during the EVS lecture.
The Panvel airport continues to battle mangroves.
The Gulf of Mexico is crying over spilt oil.
Mumbai drowns in flood every year.
Your mobile phone manufacturer is now recycling electronics.
Drop-dry buildings are discovering the bliss of rain water harvesting.
Someone somewhere is trying to save tigers from extinction.
And they need you to be aware and respond.
But don't bother. It's not in our syllabus.
